Just a sampling from NY Bass.com. I know a lot of guys have been griping about Mayo the last two seasons, but this one takes the cake.
How was the fishing? Well I believe our impressive bags will tell that story . Me and my partner Billy were able to pull out our second win on Mayo of the season. Strangely enough this was my best year ever there as far as wins, not weights or numbers. The two combined tournament wins didnt even push past 15lbs .
Techinques, maybe this will help some of you doners to this weekends Halloween tournament. We caught our fish in two ways, one was a hole we found surround by fairly shallow water and the hole was 15-25ft deep. Caught two fish pretty quick there on DS with Jackall Cross tail shads. Our biggest fish and shy of lunker by 2oz, a LMB none the less, was caught in shallow water off a rock flippin soft plastics. 2nd place team Rodgers said they caught there 3 fish and lunker smallie 2.7lbs on DS in deep water. I tried all day to get a fish on a Keitech spider grub because I knew our two other teams were using them to catch fish but I couldnt buy a bite with them.
I have no idea what has been going on with Mayo this year. I think everyone that has fished there this year will say the same. I saw alot of guys pre fishing out there too and heard they did squat as well. I hope it turns around next year. Until next year, thanks for looking
