Not being a wise ass (for once) But have you ever caught a fish and had it spit up a baby smallmouth? I got about 12 colors of jerk baits and I wind up going back to the same three patterns.

I have had them spit up baby turtles and a mouse.

But I don't throw top water turtles.

I know what you're saying, but I think it looks like a yellow perch. It can't hurt. I'll give it a try between senkos.

BTW- They are not suppose to be smallmouth. They are suppose to CATCH smallmouth.

The add doesn't state that they are baby smallies.

i think he meant to say perch.....good color in fall on candy

good color on any smallmouth lake when it's cold....

IMO
a big smallie has a very small window when it's cold and is less likely to "move" for schooling bait.

they'd rather move for 1 substancial meal than pick off baitfish from a school.

late fall when the perch push back up, they'll stay in 5-15 fow until after the spawn, which makes them a "key" bait for big smallies.

look for them to slide up in the shallows
right after ice out during warming trends.
